About Us

Funktional Brewing is a hobby project started in 2024 by three entrepreneurs (Jon Rowley, Tim Olsen, and Josh Ewin) that wanted to bring their passions together: innovation, functional ingredients, and great beer.

We are members of BAM, the Brewer’s Association of Maryland, and we launched our first prototype beers with the world at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival on May 11 in Frederick, MD.

In August 2024, Funktional Brewing Company launched its first collaboration brew. This hazy IPA features ashwaganda, organic red reishi mushroom and l-theanine and is designed for calm and focus. We have affectionately named it “The Key.“. You can find The Key. on tap and on shelves in Frederick, MD and the surrounding area.
